New for 1999: While the Park Avenue is largely unchanged for 1999, there are a number of improvements and enhancements. These alterations include improved taillights, an enhanced Concert Sound III stereo system and four new exterior colors.

History: The Park Avenue—Buick's flagship sedan—became a distinct model in 1991. Previously the name applied only to a trim level of the Electra. The Park Avenue was completely redesigned in 1997; even though its styling is similar to its predecessor, the new model is slightly larger and built on the General Motors "G" platform, shared with the Riviera and Oldsmobile Aurora. Buick courts two different buyers with Park Avenue: the base version of the car targets older customers wanting traditional American luxury, while the supercharged Ultra takes aim at younger customers more interested in performance and likely to consider an import.

Trim Details: The 1999 Buick Park Avenue 4-door sedan is available in two trims: Park Avenue (base) and Ultra. Standard safety equipment includes dual airbags, an anti-lock brake system (ABS), daytime running lights, child safety locks, and optional traction control (standard on the Ultra). The base Park Avenue is powered by a 205-horsepower 3.8-liter V6, while the Ultra gets the benefit of a supercharger, boosting horsepower to 240. Standard features on both trims include air conditioning; power door locks, windows and mirrors; a tilt steering wheel; cruise control; and an AM/FM stereo cassette. The Ultra upgrades the base with heated mirrors, moisture-sensing wipers, 6-way power-adjustable heated front seats, an upgraded stereo system with CD player, and an illuminated keyless entry system. Available options include a power sunroof and a CD changer.
