 Chevrolet Malibu 1999

CHEVY MALIBU 1999

 Base Retail Price Range: ,000 - ,960

New for 1999: Chevrolet introduced a completely new Malibu in 1997, and no major changes
are occurring for the 1999 model line.

History: From the mid '60s to the early '80s, the Malibu was Chevy's entry in what was then  called the intermediate segment of the new-car market. Today, Chevrolet calls the Malibu "the  sedan designed by America itself." In creating the new Malibu, Chevrolet conducted extensive  research, not only with potential customers but on competing cars as well. The Malibu took  the place of the discontinued Chevy Corsica, a model that fit between Cavalier and Lumina.  Given the competitive nature of the midsize sedan market, Chevrolet has given Malibu a high  level of standard equipment and priced it aggressively. The automaker expects nearly  three-quarters of Malibu buyers to be married, and nearly half of these to have children.

Trim Details: The 1999 Chevrolet Malibu is available in two trims: Malibu (base) and LS
4-door sedans. Safety features include dual airbags, an anti-lock brake system (ABS),
daytime running lights and child safety locks. Power on the base trim comes from a 2.4-liter
  twin-cam 4-cylinder engine that produces 150 horsepower. A 3.1-liter V6 is optional on the
base trim and standard on the LS. Standard features include a 4-speed automatic
transmission, air conditioning, a theft-deterrent system, a tilt steering wheel and intermittent
wipers. The LS adds power windows and door locks, an AM/FM stereo cassette, cruise
control, a power driver's seat and 15-inch aluminum
