Chrysler began the redesign of its
LH platform last year with the all-new 1998 Concorde
and Dodge Intrepid. Taking the platform to the next level, the automaker
is jumping into the 1999 model year with an all-new LHS. The redesigned
luxury flagship of the Chrysler brand features breathtaking styling and
an engine that is both more powerful and more efficient than that its predecessor.
The LHS is part of Chrysler's first "paperless" design, where all aspects
of the new model were created using Chrysler's CATIA (Computer Aided Three-dimensional
Interactive Application). Chrysler claims that this process trimmed eight
months off the total development time for the new LH models. The LHS is
expected to arrive in showrooms this summer.
The 1999 Chrysler LHS is available
in a single trim. Safety features include dual airbags, an anti-lock brake
system (ABS), traction control and child safety locks. Powering the new
LHS is a 3.5-liter aluminum V6 engine that produces 253 horsepower. Most
everything is standard on the LHS, including automatic climate control,
power door locks and windows, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, integrated
fog lights, leather trim, power heated front seats, and an AM/FM stereo
system with cassette and CD player. The only options available are an upgraded
stereo system, special alloy wheels, and a power glass sunroof. |
