New for 1999: Since the C/K
1500 is being replaced by the all-new Silverado for 1999 and beyond, it
remains basically unchanged. This year is the last chance for buyers to
purchase the time-tested General Motors full-size pickup truck.
History: For the last 16 years,
America's second-best-selling new motor vehicle has
been the Chevy C/K-series truck. While Chevy's first factory-built pickup
was introduced in 1930 (before that, third parties sold pickup bodies separately),
the current version of the C/K debuted in 1988. The C/K series offers comfort,
convenience and powertrain options so extensive that it can be tailored
to almost any buyer's needs. Sold alongside the new Silverado for 1999,
this will be the final year of the C/K 1500 pickup.
Trim Details: The 1999 Chevrolet
C/K 1500 full-size pickup truck is available in two trims: LS Extended
Cab, with 2WD or 4WD. Safety features include dual airbags, an anti-lock
brake system (ABS) and daytime running lights. Powering the C/K 1500 is
a 5.0-liter 230-horsepower V8 engine, with the option of upgrading to a
5.7-liter V8 that produces 255 horsepower. Both are teamed with a 4-speed
automatic transmission. Standard features include air conditioning, power
windows and door locks, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, chrome bumpers,
and an AM/FM stereo cassette. A third rear access door is also standard. |
